  1. Walailak University Collaborates with University of Bonn on Medicinal Research Walailak University (WU) has signed an MoU with the University of Bonn, Germany, to strengthen collaboration in medicinal and pharmacological research. The agreement, signed on 28 January 2025, focuses on faculty exchanges, joint postgraduate programs, and research in translational (phyto)medicine and (phyto)pharmacology. WU President Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong emphasized the partnership’s role in fostering impactful research and academic exchange. The collaboration builds on existing research ties, including projects on medicinal plant extraction and immunomodulation. Professor Dr. Bernd Weber from the University of Bonn highlighted mutual learning opportunities, particularly in affordable healthcare technologies.   2. University of Bonn Visits FunTech Lab

    On January 24, 2025, Dean Prof. Bernd Weber and Ms. Maria Hesterberg from the University of Bonn, Germany, visited the Functional Materials and Nanotechnology Center (FunTech Lab). They were warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mudtorlep Nisoa, Head of the Center, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Suchitra Phurahang, Deputy Head, who guided them through the laboratory facilities.

    Additionally, on January 31, 2025, Prof. Bernd Weber, Ms. Maria Hesterberg, and Mr. Alexander Proebstl from the University of Bonn visited the Microwave Heating and Applications Knowledge Center. The visit included knowledge exchange sessions on advanced research topics, presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Paravee Rattanakit and Asst. Prof. Dr. Suchitra Phurahang.

    🎉 Dr. Tanakorn Wonglakhon (Future Science Research Center, Chemistry Program, School of Science) was awarded the ThaiSC Voucher Program grant for young researchers. 📌 Project: "On the Mechanisms of Dry Reforming of Methane with Catalytically Active Liquid Metal Solutions: A Computational Study." 📌 Funding: 200,000 THB (NSTDA Supercomputer Center - ThaiSC)

    🎉 Dr. Yuwanda Injongkol (Future Science Research Center, Chemistry Program, School of Science) was awarded the ThaiSC Voucher Program grant for young researchers. 📌 Project: "Enhancement of Hydrogen Production from Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHCs) for Renewable Energy: A Theoretical Study." 📌 Funding: 200,000 THB (NSTDA Supercomputer Center - ThaiSC)

    🎉 Dr. Narongrit Sosa (Science Program, School of Science) received accreditation as a Fellow, HEA Fellowships (Fellow #721) under the Pre-UKPSF special training program (#482).

    🎉 Asst. Prof. Dr. Kotchaphan Kanjana Promoted to the academic position of Associate Professor.
